Hikes! Utah summed up in one word, right?
Well… while there’s so much to do in Utah, this summer it’s been hard to get outside due to the current pandemic. But this spring a friend showed me an app called All Trails and I’ve been using it to discover new hikes in Utah! I picked these three hikes to write about as I’ve done them each recently, and they truly renewed my appreciation for the natural beauty of Utah.
Avenue Twin Peaks
How To Get There: Park at the end of Terrace Hills Drive in the Avenues
Difficulty: Easy, 3.6 miles
Modified: Only go halfway to the Twin Peaks
Silver Lake Trail
How To Get There: Drive up American Fork Canyon and park at Silver Lake Flat Reservoir
Difficulty: Moderate to Difficult, 4.7 miles
Modified: Hike around car-accessible Tibble Fork Reservoir
Clayton Peak
How To Get There: Park at Brighton Resort and start towards the Brighton Lakes, break off at the fork and follow signs for Clayton Peak
Difficulty: Easy to Moderate, 3.7 miles
Modified: Hike the Lake Mary Trail instead, it’s the same trail head but only 2.6 miles. Or alternatively, don’t summit Clayton Peak
I’m on a roll and still hoping to squeeze in a few more hikes before returning to work in August! My hope is to do Cecret Lake, Yellowfork Canyon, Lake Blanche, and Bald Mountain. Until then, there you have it! Three amazing hikes where we can all enjoy our state’s natural beauty. I hope to see you all out on a trail soon! – Paul
